1776, the Gastropub

If you know Chris and myself, you would know that we love burgers. And finding new, “hole in the wall” type kinda burger places. We discovered a new burger place, or rather “all-American gastropub” in the heart of Old Town Monrovia – 1776.

Yep, it’s called 1776.

Quick history lesson: It was on July 4th, 1776 that the thirteen colonies of America declared themselves to be a new nation, and were no longer part of the British Empire. So, everything in the place was quite patriotic.

Their menu was short, and focused mostly on craft beers (sense a theme here? I don’t drink alcohol but I tend to frequent places that probably serve more alcohol than food). What I really did love about their menu was that their burgers were named after presidents! I got the Thomas Jefferson (second president of America) which came with mushrooms, caramelized onions, fried garlic aioli and cheddar cheese. Chris got the James Monroe (fifth president of this country) which was a hybrid hotdog burger. We also got their jalapeΓ±o poppers which was the BEST ones I’ve ever had.

My favorite date since 2011. And he’s FINALLY wearing the sweater I got him for Christmas!

They had this flag hung up on their patio seating.

I absolutely loved this place. I’m a history nerd so being in a historically-themed burger joint makes my nerdy heart happy. 10/10 will come again.
