Muir Woods & Yosemite

This is it!! The last leg of our trip from up north. We visited Muir Woods and ultimately Yosemite. Also, it’s already July – where did the time go?! This year feels like it’s just breezing by right in front of my very eyes.

Muir Woods National Monument
The day after the Hamilton play, we visited Muir Woods since it’s considered a must-see for those making the trip up north. It was an hour drive from our Airbnb and since we didn’t really have anything planned, we decided to make the drive.

We got into the place for free (thanks to the annual parks pass I purchased that I mentioned in this earlier entry). Their entrance fee was per person so we saved around $20 on that alone. Muir Woods is considered great for hiking but it isn’t like your typical hike because the way was perfectly paved. It’s more for sightseeing and just enjoying the sights.

We didn’t stay too long at Muir Woods. After a good hour or two, we headed back to Richmond and stopped by The Original Mel’s Diner for a late lunch. That evening, we met up with my aunt and her husband in Santa Clara for dinner at Il Fornaio. The food at Il Fornaio was expensive really good! They did a birthday song for Chris in Italian. Their service was really impressive – highly recommend checking this place for any special occasions.

Yosemite National Park
Lastly, the very very very end of the trip. Seeing Yosemite National Park. I’d been here years ago but this was Chris’ first time setting foot in this beautiful park. I love national parks because it’s a reminder of how beautiful nature really is.

This trip was really fun. Although it was sunnier than we had hoped it would be, it was still enjoyable and memorable – I mean, I got engaged, finally saw my favorite musical and got to soak in so much of nature. Until the next trip, wherever it may be!

Yosemite's a good park! There are other parks in California that are just as beautiful and they're on my list of places to go. Thanks, Ciara!

It's so cool that you got into the park for free! I've heard of the national park annual pass but haven't looked into it because I pretty much go about once a year XD. It's great that you're taking advantage and getting some nice sceneries.

OoOOoMmmg I've been to Yosemite twice but never during the summer. It looks so nice! I love taking pictures from that spot because you get a nice view of the half dome and everything around it! (Oh, and that small waterfall on the right). I'm happy you had a blast! Congrats again on getting engaged :)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to that $80 pass xD Truthfully though, if I used it at any more parks, I'm sure I'd get my money's worth. I love national parks! I plan on seeing them all someday!

I honestly think it'd be cooler to see Yosemite during a colder season. It's too hot during the summer, and crowded too with all the families from out of town. I'm so glad the water was in good condition at the park – when I first visited years ago, most of the water had dried up in the park.

Beautiful photos! I lived in California for a year and I never managed to visit Muir Woods or Yosemite, it's something I've always regretted. I did visit Lake Tahoe though and fell madly in love with it.

Oh wow, these places are so beautiful! I always say this, but I keep forgetting the States has such beautiful natural scenery – I always think of the cities when I think of the US!

I used to go to Yosemite all the time when I was little, but I haven't been back for YEARS. Like, at least ten years, probably more. I don't think I appreciated the beauty of nature that much when I was little though. I took it for granted until I moved to China and was enveloped by pollution. I def want to make a trip back! // Also I just caught up with your blog. What a crazy trip it's been! Congrats with everything!! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's

Those parks look so beautiful! I'm a little embarrassed that I haven't made it out to any national parks yet. It's definitely on my list of things I want to do. I should look into different parks around here! P.S. Nice backpack πŸ™‚

I really enjoyed reading about your cool little trip to Yosemite. My boyfriend, Matt went last year as part of a Hackathon event and he keeps raving about how beautiful it is. I love hikes so it is right up my street – looks like you had a blast! It looks like a perfect place to meditate!
