Asian Eatscapades is a spin-off series of the blog’s Foodie Files. Asian food is my comfort food (people designate ice cream as their comfort food, I chose Asian food, don’t judge), hence it receiving its own name and fame. In this post, I’ll be sharing new Asian restaurants I’ve dined at in the central valley!
Poke House
After work one day, I was craving for some ramen – really bad. I remember when I visited the Philippines, that I actually enjoyed some ramen at the airport, which I think was the last time I had ramen. Naturally, I looked up on Yelp and by chance, stumbled upon Poke House. They focus mostly on serving poke but served ramen as well! According to the reviews, their ramen “was the best in the valley” – I mean, I live in a pre-dominantly Hispanic/White town so Asian food is a hit or miss. Anyways, Chris and I both ordered the tonkatsu ramen and we received a free roll of their California roll! The ramen was really good – I got the pork belly with it and the meat was soooo soft. ★★★☆☆
Huang Lan
Last weekend, my family came into town for a quick trip before my brothers start school again. We drove out to Fresno where we got massages, stopped by the Apple store and of course, eat! My dad was craving Vietnamese beef stew so we found Huang Lan which was right down the street from where we were. On the outside, the restaurant looked really run down but the interior was very clean and spacious. Whenever I eat Vietnamese food, I always get the beef pho, regardless of the weather (I mean, it could be 100 degrees out and I probably will still order pho). We also ordered a side of their spring rolls, which was quite different than what I’m used to. Overall, really good restaurant with decent price/portion ratio, and my dad’s already planning on dining here again when they come back up for my wedding! ★★★★☆
Until the next adventure! Is it a hike or is it more good food? Tune in to find out!
