August Photo Dump

Monthly Photo Dumps are basically end-of-the-month entries where I dump photos that never get its own blog post or never make it to the ‘gram. This is my way of sharing random photos I’ve taken throughout the month and a little snippet about them.

Nothing Bundt Cakes

I made time to visit my adopted grandpa at his retirement home. I say adopted because while we’re not technically related, he’s a very important grandfather figure in my life. He’s done so many great things for my family and myself that nothing would probably ever make up for all of it. But he does love chocolate cake so I stopped by Nothing Bundt Cakes and got him a chocolate bundtlet. I dropped it off at his place and we enjoyed a good lunch together. It’s the little things in life that matter!

Collecting Tea + Postage Stamps

In a previous entry, I mentioned about how I recently got back into the art of letter-writing/snail mail. Through this hobby, I’ve been able to lovely people from all around the world! I’ve added some new postage stamps to my collection as well as starting a tea collection! Buying tea is my weakness, but it’s nice to be able to sample tea from all around the world now. My penpal from Germany sent me the strawberry cheesecake tea and I’m really looking forward to trying that one out!

Making Some Healthy Changes

I will be honest, I will not deny myself a cheat meal at least once a week – it’s all about balance! For August, I saw myself getting more conscious with what I put into my body. I went out for poke when visiting my family but instead of consuming it all in one serving, I split it into two – one for now, one for later. I chose brown rice as my base and loaded it up with some veggies on the side.

In addition, I also found a little gem in town called Farm Fresh Bowls where they serve savory bowls using local farm ingredients! They change their menu often; but when they had the chicken poblano bowl, I would get that during my lunch breaks at work, but always had it changed up to the vegan bowl. Eating healthier has never been made easier.

While I’m not completely vegan, I’ve been dabbling with meatless meals occasionally to help me live a better and healthier lifestyle. With that, I teamed up with HealthLabs, a company that offers testing to see if you need to switch up your diet! They offer their vegan testing to see if you’re at risk for any animal-related allergies. As a nurse, this type of testing is important because sometimes, we may not notice how certain products are affecting us on the outside but could already be doing damage in our body (trust me, I’ve seen so many cases of this). If you’re curious to try it out, get 25% on their vegan testing with my code, EENA25. Healthy is happy, my friends!

HI EENA!! You’re such a sweetheart overall – it’s nice to spend time with others and all of the little things count! Hope your adopted grandpa loved the goodie from Nothing Bundt Cakes! Funny thing is that I’ve heard of this shop before but haven’t been @__@. You are kicking ass with the post mails! Oooh I didn’t know you started collecting tea! Shoot, I need to remember this if I ever go to Asia XD.

I’m proud of you for making healthy changes for a better lifestyle. It’s good that you’re picking things that your body will thank you for. I’m looking forward to hearing more about this journey!!! KEEP IT UP, SUPER STAR!

Oh my gosh, I love your stamp and tea collection! I don’t drink tea that often but even I couldn’t help drooling at the sound of that strawberry cheesecake flavour. Cheesecake is my absolute favourite dessert! I love the little chocolate cake you got for your Grandpa. What a sweet surprise for him!

My great grandmother was a stamp collector, I have hundreds of B E A U T I FU L stamps from the 1890’s-1960’s! Stamps don’t hold the same beauty as they used to but there is nothing better than a hand written letter. I love cards, buying them writing in them, getting them. There’s just something special about taking the time to pick out, write & send a card

BUNDT CAKE! Best gift EVER :). I bet he was so happy! Ben once bought me an entire full sized bundt cake for myself and it was the best day of my life.
Love that you’ve been trying meatless Mondays! Even though I’ve already nixed meat and most animal products, I’d still be really interested to check out what my sensitivities are. That might help me kick cheese for good!
    Thanks for sharing lady!

I love the idea of exchanging snail mail! If you ever want a letter/postcard from Vancouver, Canada just message me and I will send one to you 🙂 It’s been too long time since I mailed anything. I should probably write my mom a letter instead of messaging her. She would probably love it!

Your teabag collection is so cool. I even saw some dutch ones there?
I think it's great youve been trying out vegan things. I'm not vegan myself either, but it gets my cooking up to the next level.
    I love getting creative.
Have a lovely day hun 🙂

My mom used to have an album full of stamps and how I wish we still have it. I even added some on it when I was a kid. Yes to having a healthy lifestyle! I tried going vegan for a week last year and I felt good but I still went back to eating meat when the new year started because of the new year’s eve party. Hahaha! However, I always make sure that I have a well-balanced meal and my snacks aren’t junk. I’m not a junk food kind of person.
