My dad recently celebrated his forty-sixth birthday. Last year, we celebrated at the Queen Mary’s Sunday Champagne Brunch; my dad enjoyed it so much that he picked the same place for his birthday this year. The brunch at this marvelous ship is rather expensive, but the buffet price lets you explore the ship for as long as you want. Bottomless mimosas + great buffet + live harp music + getting to explore = why not?
I reserved our table for 8 through OpenTable for 10:30AM; surprisingly, we arrived earlier than planned and they let us right in. Our table was next to the entrance for the buffet, so it made grubbing really easy.

After brunch, we strolled around the ship. We planned on doing the Haunted Tour; however, the next tour was in three hours and with the 100F fall weather, we weren’t too thrilled about having to wait. We ended up stumbling across this video room where they play videos about people who’ve boarded the Queen Mary back in the day on an endless loop… in an air conditioned room. You bet we spent a good 20 minutes in there.
Anyways, we left around 2PM and headed straight to Sweet Cup. My younger brother and I stumbled across this ice cream/boba shop on the Yelp OC page a few weeks ago – THEY HAVE ICE CREAM TACOS OK. He convinced my dad to make a detour to this shop before heading home.

This place is soooo good. I got the matcha bliss on a blue waffle and holy crap, my love for matcha was easily fulfilled. We didn’t wait too long since we came at a good time + we snagged a table for eight right when we got in. I totally understand and respect the hype for this place. Tacos are even better when ice cream is involved, everyone. Tried and tested.
