Cabin Twenty-Four

Disneyland with Amy

January 12, 2020

I originally had plans to travel up to Mammoth Lakes the week before my birthday but after those plans fell through, I ended up going to Disneyland with one of the best coworkers ever, Amy! I’m actually glad that the road trip got canceled because I had too much fun being back at Disneyland after three years!

Amy and I left town around five in the morning but got caught in traffic around eight by Santa Clarita, which made us reach our destination a little later than planned. After we got ourselves checked in to the park, we went straight to getting our FastPasses for Haunted Mansion then ran over to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride! There is honestly something so soothing with being back on that ride. After Pirates, we headed over to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad then grabbed lunch right before we had to be back at Haunted Mansion!

We ate at the Hungry Bear Restaurant since Amy was craving their chicken sandwich. We shared some onion rings and their Halloween-themed funnel cake.

After lunch, we got on Haunted Mansion then headed over to Disneyland’s latest attraction, Galaxy’s Edge. It was impressing how they set everything up but as I’m not the biggest Star Wars fan, I didn’t really know what the buildings were made to look like. We got on the Smuggler’s Run ride which is a virtual experience where each of the riders got to play a role – pilot, gunner or engineer.

Once we were finished with getting on rides, the fun part began – snacking! We stopped by the candy shop on Main Street where Amy bought snacks for her son while I bought some for Chris since he was stuck at work! After buying snacks, we got some cream cheese-filled pretzels, ate corndogs and stopped by the Market Place (aka Starbucks) so I could buy the Disneyland mugs and we ended up trying their Dr. Falicier Elixir drink (chai tea mixed with passion tea lemonade), which was soooo good.

We left the park around four in the afternoon and made the drive home. It was such a fun experience and it was so exciting to be back at the happiest place on earth. Looking forward to my next trip!

I’m not massive into Star Wars either but that theming looks so cool! I visited Disney California back in 2008 & 2006 and it holds a very special place in my heart (wipes tear – hahaha) – I really want to go back because I bet it has changed quite a bit now, I do tend to keep up with what they are doing over there. Very much looking forward to returning someday!

Mmmm, you can never go wrong with the funnel cake. I am so happy that you got to check out Galaxy’s Edge! Love that this was also a snack-filled day. You make me miss going back to DL already, hehe. NEXT TIME WE WILL GO!

Yes! Love Disneyland. We went for my own milestone birthday a few years back and had the best time. We did both parks over two days but California Adventure was my fave. It is the happiest place on Earth!
