Post-Wedding Getaway

January 5, 2020

After the Chris and I got married (last September), we actually spent a night away from each other due to dropping off family at the airport the next day. We decided to do a delayed honeymoon for 2020 so the two weekends after our wedding, we decided to do a little getaway by heading to Grover Beach!

We got into town late in the afternoon and managed to grab dinner at the Cracked Crab where we enjoyed some amazing crab and artichoke dip with our lobster and soft-shell crab sandwiches. Following dinner, we drove to our Airbnb, which was adorable as it was coastal themed!

To be honest, we didn’t do much while we were away. We spent the morning walking around town, grabbed lunch and headed off to our ice cream lab tour at Doc Bernstein’s Lab. The tour was interesting and it was fun hearing about the different flavors the ice cream lab makes. In fact, they let you curate your own flavors for your special events – a racing company made their own flavor of different chocolates and named it motor oil. Motor oil was surprisingly good flavor!

We headed back home a day earlier than we had originally planned – we missed our cat too much, especially after all the festivities we had. Until our next getaway!

I am excited to finally hear about your post-wedding adventures!!! Love that you two had a little getaway before going back to reality. The Airbnb is so your vibe. It is great that the both of you took it chill, especially with all of the work put into the big day!! Glad you enjoyed your time out at Grover Beach!! Until next time 🙂

That is so cool that you got to try motor oil chocolates.

I love the idea of a mini getaway for a couple of days before your actual honeymoon. I wouldn’t expect motor oil to be such a nice flavour, kinda like the idea behind the name though x

Belated congratulations on your wedding! It seems like more and more couples are delaying their honeymoons these days. I love the idea of doing little mini-moons down to the beach. Fun way to celebrate on a budget before your big trip!

hope it’s not too late to wish Happy Newlywed to you and your husband.
I think I’ve heard of Grover Beach but I can’t remember where.
Still dreaming when will I ever travel to the US and visit places like this.
If I ever get to go to California, I’ll visit your blog for some info because I’ve been planning about it since early 2019.
