Hello, is it me you’re looking for? Hi, hello, aloha, kumusta? The last two weeks of 2017 were a blur for me – family visiting from Canada, trips within days of each other, events also within days of each other, etcetera etcetera. Truthfully, I had too much on my plate that I wasn’t able to sit down and catch up on the blog; or when I did, the motivation to write wasn’t quite there. But it’s a new year, and I’m back!
2017 was a great and successful year for me, in retrospect. The year started off rocky – I found myself switching jobs and fell tight on my finances. But when April rolled in, things started picking up and it surprisingly stayed that way. It’s important to mention that I watched four musicals, got engaged to my best friend, strengthened my relationship with my parents, visited three national parks and actually managed to save! The past year felt like it was MY year but I have this feeling that this year will also be MY year, except better and greater.
For 2018, I really want to work on self-love. By that, I mean, taking care of myself not just physically but mentally and emotionally as well. As someone who works in healthcare, I’ve put my patients and work before me that it’s time I take action to take care of myself too. I promised myself I would lose 30lbs this year, as well as incorporating regular exercise, observing meatless Mondays into my routine and eating healthier.
Other smaller goals or side quests I’ve set myself for this year:
- Become more financially stable.
- Look at the bright side of life.
- Become the better, happier version of me.
- Appreciate the little things more.
According to my Chinese horoscope, “In 2018, the Goat (Sheep) learns to say no and manages to prioritize his personal goals for himself against the desires of his loved ones. He also realizes that he must rely only on himself to advance in life and succeed in his projects.” Come at me, 2018.
