Shaver Lake Weekend

For Chris’ birthday, I posted that we’d be doing a staycation due to his birthday falling so close to Father’s Day! Despite going out for dinner and grabbing some sweets, we had a bigger celebration the following week. We celebrated by driving up to Shaver Lake and then spending the night in a peaceful mountaintop cabin.

We left town around eight in the morning and arrived at the lake around ten. When we got there, we rented some paddle boards through the marina, which we were so reasonably priced at $50/each for a full day! The last time we had gone paddle boarding was two years ago when we were at Newport Coast. We only spent three hours on the boards because it got a little hot and we were starting to get hungry.

For this trip, Chris and I actually purchased dry bags so we had a place to store our belongings while we explored on the lake without the worry of getting them soaked in the lake! Chris and I had our share of falls off the paddle boards (Chris 1; Eena 2) and the bag did so well with keeping it dry! Would definitely recommend to anyone about to have a water excursion (no, I don’t get commission if you purchase through that link, I just like sharing products I find).

For lunch, we dined at a local restaurant called Shaver Lake Pub & Grub where we both ordered the western bacon cheeseburger and fried calamari for appetizers. Once we wrapped up lunch, we stopped by Cressman’s General Store where we purchased some snacks and a few toiletries then we drove to our Airbnb!

We easily could’ve driven back to town on the same day but we decided to spend the night in the mountains. We booked our Airbnb in the nearby town of Auberry and it was the most beautiful loft we had ever stayed in! It was peaceful and had the best view of the mountains and the sunset in the distance.

Besides hiking trips, Chris and I enjoy being indoors so we spent our night camped inside the loft where we watched some movies on Netflix, ate leftovers and enjoyed the silence of the mountains. It was a fun weekend trip and I’m already looking forward to driving back to Shaver Lake or Auberry. Until the next adventure!
