It’s my birthday month and on the 30th, I will officially be 28! As I mentioned, since this month is my birthday month, I tend to make October my “self-care/treat yo’self” month. With that, this month is the only month in the year where I allow myself to spend more than usual, take on new hobbies, and just take in everything life has to offer.
Originally, a few nursing school friends and I had planned on traveling to Mammoth Lakes the week before my birthday, but those plans have since fell through. Instead of being bummed about it, I decided to spend the time off from work on myself!
Happy Birthday to Me!
I recently made a few purchases that I normally would have to think twice about doing so!
- Plane tickets to Utah in March – my cousin, Angie, and I are headed off to Utah for our ultimate cousin bonding road trip! We plan to see the state’s five national parks and explore more along the way!
- Fjallraven Kanken backpack – I bit the bullet and purchased a new backpack for day hikes/trips. I actually bought the No. 2 Laptop 15″ in Acorn and currently torn between the Kanken Laptop in Olive Green or Dahlia (thoughts anyone?). One can never have too many backpacks.
- Teva Arrowood Venture Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots – finally upgraded my hiking shoes to hiking boots!
- Upgraded to the iPhone 11 Pro – I was very skeptical about this but I ended up doing it! The camera is actually really great.
I actually started keeping a journal again! Well, journals. I keep a bullet journal, daily journal and an adventure journal. I stumbled upon the Traveler’s Notebook journaling system and instantly fell in love. I’m so hooked and will have to share my journal pages (I use the regular size, passport size and A6 for all my thoughts right now) someday. There’s something so therapeutic about writing and documenting my own thoughts down that are intimate and only for my eyes.
This past year has been such an amazing year for me and I’m looking forward to my 28th year of living! I’ve learned a lot this past year and I’m looking forward to learning more about myself and life. I spent this past weekend celebrating my birthday early with family – drove to LA and enjoyed some good food + badminton. Here’s to more adventures and memories! Cheers to (almost) 28!
